2024 Christmas Extravaganza


It’s time again for the Friends of 400 Christmas Extravaganza. Thanks to everyone who participated last year and we hope you’ll consider participating again this year. The children targeted live in low income housing or are active participants with Friends of 400 or the inner city Boy Scout - Girl Scout Troops or Cub Pack 400.

The goal of Friends of 400 is to address the physical, spiritual, emotional and relational poverty experienced by the children living in the public housing neighborhoods of inner-city Huntsville.

We strive to assist these families with opportunities to reach their full potential. Your support will assist us in achieving this goal.

Friends of 400 relies on the generosity of donors such as yourself and is grateful for your support.

The following are volunteer and support opportunities available throughout the year:

  1. Cub Scout Pack 400
    Commitment: Weekly (Wednesday), Monthly, or Special Events, Field Trips

    Volunteers are needed to work with the boys at our weekly meetings or help out on a monthly basis. Volunteers are also needed to help with pinewood derby cars in January, soap box derby in May, and field trips at various times. Volunteers are also needed to come teach special classes so that the boys can earn a badge/belt loop and also learn about future careers. Ex: astronomy, wood working, map and compass skills, etc.

    Donations are needed to sponsor a t-shirt uniform for a boy ($15), sponsor a child for a field trip ($5 - $50), sponsor a night of crafts ($30)
  2. Boy Scout Troop 400
    Commitment: Weekly (Saturday) or Special Events

    Volunteers are needed to work with the boys at their Saturday meetings. Volunteers are also needed to come teach special classes so that the boys can earn a badge and also learn about future careers.

    Donations are needed to sponsor a uniform for a boy ($50) or sponsor a Scout for a field trip ($5 - $50)
  3. Boy Scout Troop 400
    Commitment: Weekly (Saturday) or Special Events

    Volunteers are needed to work with the boys at their Saturday meetings. Volunteers are also needed to come teach special classes so that the boys can earn a badge and also learn about future careers.

    Donations are needed to sponsor a uniform for a boy ($50) or sponsor a Scout for a field trip ($5 - $50)
  4. Girls Night
    Commitment: Weekly (Thursday), Monthly or Field Trips

    Volunteers are need to spend time with the girls on Thursdays for Girls Night. Thursdays are a time of crafts and talking and laughing and loving on the girls in the Searcy community.

    Donations are needed to sponsor a “uniform (t-shirt)” for a girl ($15), sponsor a child for a field trip ($5 - $20), sponsor a night of crafts ($30)
  5. Project Great First Day
    Commitment: Once Yearly

    Volunteers are needed to help plan, buy school supplies, pack backpacks and help with the distribution party.

    Donations are needed to provide each child with the school supplies they need to have a great first day of school.
  6. Christmas Extravaganza - Christmas gifts for children who live in low income housing, are active participants with Troop 400, or participate in Girl’s Night at the Scout Hut.
    Commitment: Once Yearly

    Volunteers Volunteers are needed to help with present collection/sorting (Friday and Saturday) and to help the children make crafts and distribute refreshments at the party on Sunday.

    Donations are needed to purchase Christmas gifts for the children.
